Can Technology Help Save Our State Budget? Respond to Our Survey
Last year, the Brookings Institution released a study on state and federal use of electronic technologies. Illinois ranked 38th on the list, scoring only 42 points out of 100. That got us thinking…as the state is struggling with a budget deficit, there must be ways the government can reduce costs by using technology.
ITP would like to hear your ideas on technology solutions state and local governments can adopt not only to save money, but also operate more efficiently for citizens. Some have suggested things like online support, live chat, and mobile access to government sites, but we know there are other things the state can do to connect with constituents.
Here are some questions to get you started:
- What technology resources has the private sector utilized that could be adapted to serve government purposes and save tax dollars?
- Are you aware of software, programs or applications that would enhance communication between the government and citizens?
- Do you know of other states that are effectively using new technology to streamline standard processes?
- What type of services should be made available to residents online in order to save time, increase efficiency and cut waste?
Click here to share your ideas with us.
We will be compiling and sharing your feedback with policymakers and the media in an effort to spread the word on ways technology can save Illinois time and money. Select responses will also be posted on the ITP blog.
We look forward to reading and sharing your tech-savvy government solutions.
