State Technology Organizations Announce Plans to Merge
Coalition Formed to Promote Broadband Deployment, Innovation and Job Growth Through Smart Technology Policies
Today, three state technology organizations announced their plans to merge, forming the Midwest Consumers for Choice and Competition (MCCC), a non-profit organization comprised of state chapters and individual consumers. MCCC will focus on promoting and supporting broadband access and deployment, innovative technology and economic job growth throughout the Midwest region.
Illinois Technology Partnership, Wired Wisconsin and Technology for Ohio’s Tomorrow have joined under MCCC, and will operate as individual state projects of the coalition. These organizations have come together through their similar goals to advocate for a Midwest where technological innovation can thrive.
Thad Nation, MCCC Executive Director and Director of Wired Wisconsin, described the coalition as “an opportunity for individual organizations to come together as a larger voice for technology issues in the Midwest, and to help Midwest consumers remain educated and updated on technology policy and how it impacts our lives.”
The organization’s primary goals are to educate policy-makers and advocate for technological advancement in order to foster an environment that supports and promotes the emerging technologies of the future.
“Internet access and availability is an important issue in the Midwest, and MCCC is dedicated to making sure states in the Midwest are keeping up an environment where technological innovation and broadband Internet access grows,” Nation added.
This announcement demonstrates collaboration on behalf of consumers, non-profits and corporations in the Midwest to focus on policies and issues that will result in improved access and broadband deployment in the region.
MCCC is a non-profit organization of state chapters and individual consumers interested in technology, broadband, and telecommunication issues in the Midwest region and working to promote and support access and broadband deployment, as well as innovative technology and economic job growth in the Midwest.
