The Chicago Tech Market
According to a report in Crain’s Chicago Business, Chicagoans are 137 times more likely to stream video from their phones than the national average.
A graph appropriately named, “What Can’t Cell Phones Do?” indicated in addition to streaming video clips, the report says that Chicagoans are also very likely to use their telephones to download and listen to music, e-mail and use other Internet features.
The report also states that a whopping 42% of Chicagoans use their phones for text messaging, and sixteen percent of Chicagoans, more than any other city, use coupons collected via text messages or the Internet.
In the good news category, nearly 84 percent of technology companies in Illinois plan to hire next year!
This report underscores the fact that the technology industry is growing very quickly, and it looks like Chicago is keeping pace with that growth.
