The Illinois Technology Partnership is your go-to resource for high tech-related information and advocacy.

In the late 1970s, the idea of having a personal computer in your home was far-fetched to most experts and consumers. When the first mobile phone debuted in 1984, the two pound, $4,000 device could only handle less than 30 minutes of talk time.

Technology is no longer just for the wealthy business person or software engineer. Today, we live in a digital world powered by cell phones, the internet, and other cutting-edge communication services. Whether you’re taking an online course, sending files to a client, uploading photos or downloading music, watching the game in HD, or checking e-mail on your PDA, technology and connectivity plays an integral role in all of our lives.

Mission:

The Illinois Technology Partnership is the Illinois-based project of Midwest Consumers for Choice and Competition, a non-profit organization of individual consumers interested in technology, broadband, and telecommunication issues with state projects throughout the Midwest region.  ITP brings together industry experts, thought leaders, and Illinois consumers to foster an environment that will encourage emerging technologies, jobs, and investment, and spur economic growth on the state and local level.

Illinois is well-positioned to be the technology hub of the Midwest. But no broad coalition exists to ensure that consumers and small businesses have access to the cutting-edge products and services they need, and ensure that government policies spur the creation of high-tech jobs instead of standing in the way.

The Illinois Technology Partnership (ITP) fills that void.

ITP will focus on several critical technology-related issues, including wireless technology, consumer choice, high-tech investment and job creation, internet advancement, next generation communication services, scientific applications (such as biofuels), as well as other emerging issues.

By drawing upon the expertise of leading researchers from across the State, we will gather and share developing information with our consumer members, industry partners, and policymakers, and encourage an educated and active role in the public policy process.
